Dorval Roofing (“Dorval Roofing”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit dorvalroofing.com, contact us or use our roofing services. It is designed to comply with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Person in charge of the protection of personal information

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for the protection of personal information at Dorval Roofing. You can reach them for any question, request or complaint:

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a contact or quote request form, call or email us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, property address, and the details you include in your message (for example, photos or a description of your roof).

Information collected automatically. When you browse our website, we and our service providers may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, the date and time of your visit, and the referring website. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14.

3. Why we use your information

  • To respond to your inquiries and prepare estimates or quotes;
  • To schedule, perform and follow up on roofing, snow removal and maintenance work;
  • To invoice and keep the business records required by law;
  • To protect our website against spam, fraud and security threats;
  • To understand how our website is used and improve it.

We only use your information for these purposes, or for other purposes with your consent or where permitted or required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Consent

By submitting a form or contacting us, you consent to the collection and use of your information for the purposes described above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide a quote or service.

5. Sharing your information

We may share personal information only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate our business and website (such as web hosting, email, analytics, form and anti-spam providers), who may only use it to provide services to us;
  • Financing partners, if you ask us about financing options;
  • Government authorities or other parties when required by law.

Some of our service providers, such as Google, may store or process information outside Québec, including in the United States. Before communicating information outside Québec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, and we require our providers to protect it appropriately.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including:

  • Essential and security cookies needed for the site to work and to protect it (for example, our firewall and form spam protection, including Google reCAPTCHA);
  • Analytics cookies through Google Analytics, which help us understand how visitors use our site. Information is collected in aggregate form.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax and accounting records). Information from inquiries that do not lead to work is generally deleted within 2 years. When information is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.

8. Security

We use reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information, including a secured (HTTPS) website, a firewall and restricted access to information. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the affected persons as required by law.

9. Your rights

Subject to the law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request that it be corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
  • Withdraw your consent to its use;
  • Request that we stop disseminating it or de-index it in certain circumstances;
